Echa Hilo was created to share the excitement of cross-stitching with everyone!

Hola and welcome to Echa Hilo! I am Wilnelia, the owner of Echa Hilo.

About eight years ago I was earning my PhD in Biology and dealing with being far away from my home, Puerto Rico. I was so stressed during that time that I decided to revive one of my MANY failed attempts at crafting. And this was a cross-stitch kit I purchased ages ago!  

So this cross-stitch kit was the first crafting project that I ever finished and I felt so empowered and proud! It definitely helped me deal with that anxiety that I was feeling during my PhD.

BUT it is so hard to learn a craft and find a supportive community, and this is where Echa Hilo comes in!

We focus on creating cross-stitch kits that are easy to learn, and help us connect to California and Puerto Rico! Echa Hilo is also about building communities. And we do this by giving virtual cross-stitching hours and hosting both virtual and in-person events.

So the bottom line is that Echa Hilo is here to help you on your crafting journey, improve your mental health, learn about California and Puerto Rico, and be part of a community of crafters!
